Pro Training

Today's start is from Versilia with Forte dei Marmi; the stage route then crosses into Liguria with Amelia, Sarzana, La Spezia, Cinque Terre and Levanto. There, the course leaves the seashore and proceeds towards Varese Ligure, up the Vara valley and the Passo della Biscia. Descent into the Val Graveglia, Garibaldi's birthplace (although some sources suggest he may have been from Chiavari). After Lavagna (slate quarries), Chiavari, Rapallo, La Ruta, Bogliasco and then Nervi in the Genoa province:
the course enters Genoa and proceeds through city streets towards Pontedecimo and Bolzaneto and the final climb to the sanctuary of Nostra Signora della Guardia.

Second uphill finish, very long stage (250 km), flat profile till La Spezia, then many climbs and continuous undulations. From La Spezia to Levanto the stage crosses the Cinque Terre that are characterized by rather tough climbs. After Varese Ligure there's the ascent to the Passo della Biscia (GPM climb) and then it's all downhill until Genoa. The short, but steep climb to Campi (GPM) takes you to Pontedecimo and then to Bolzaneto where the final 8.8-km ascent begins. The last few kilometres include stretches with a gradient of 14%.
