Pro Training

Today we are tackling one of the toughest climbs in the Dolomiti.
Covered various times by the Giro d’Italia, the Passo Giau is a climb that symbolises the Gran Fondo Dolomiti Stars.
The course starts from the town of Colle Santa Lucia, with a short descent before entering Selva di Cadore, and at the road-fork we turn left and start the Giau climb, with steep sections of 13% and an average slope of 8% right from the very first bends.
We have to carefully measure the effort so as not to use up all our energy, with over 10 km of long and hard road ahead.
On reaching the top at 2236 m a.s.l., a breath-taking view of meadows and pastures dominated by the Gusela del Nuvola with the majestic Tofane and Cortina D’Ampezzo basin meets our eyes, and which we can enjoy during the long descent leading us to the locality of Pocol and the end of our day’s efforts.
