The highest col in the French Pyrenees, the pass may take its name from French for 'bad route' (Tour mal).
Whatever its historical origin, the col becomes a ski resort in Winter, but when open in summer it is the definitive French road climb of the range.
Featured in many TdF stages, the well maintained road is cambered for perfect descending, and surrounded by classic scenery for a view during the ascent.

The Video-Course arrives at (till) 6.5 km from the top.
